Today at 1:00 PM EDT, Medicare will be having another teleconference regarding the implementation of the Competitive Bidding Program in DMEPOS. During the last Teleconference CMS spoke about Sub-contracting but was never asked the question:

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel, a Tribune Newspaper based in Fort Lauderdale, released an article this morning regarding the Competitive Bidding Program in DMEPOS.
Here are some Highlights:
This week, Medicare named the suppliers that won bids, including 80 in South Florida out of 800 that operate here. All 800,000 Medicare recipients in the area will get letters explaining the new system so they can line up new companies if necessary, Medicare Administrator Kerry Weems said.

Report from the AA Homecare "Washington Fly-In"
Washington, D.C. - Tuesday, May 20th I was joined by eight other members of the Accredited Medical Equipment Providers of America (AMEPA) including Rudy Hernandez, Jr., our Chair of the Legislative Committee at the AA Homecare "Washington Fly In".
Rudy and I had meetings on Tuesday at the Offices of Representatives Alcee Hastings and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (Both in the Miami MSA) and Tom Feeney (Orlando MSA). The staffers attended the House Staff Briefings that CMS held over two weeks ago and were very aware of the problems and contradictions of the Competitive Bidding Program in DMEPOS.

Cleveland Suit to Bar Competitive Bidding Program Progresses
The lawsuit supported by Last Chance for Patient Choice which is pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio is progressing. On Monday the Plaintiff’s in the case, Home Medical Equipment Providers and Beneficiaries, filed a Motion For Preliminary Injunction and a brief in support of that Motion.
