AMEPA has received many questions from members regarding upcoming changes to their accreditation status, soon after the bid window closes on March 30, 2012. Others bidders have questions about forming new subcontracting agreements after their hardcopy documents are sent to the CBIC.

There are only six days left for bidders to overnight their Hardcopy Financial Documents to the Competitive Bidding Implementation Contractor (CBIC) before the Covered Document Review Date (CDRD).

Today Congress passed the "Doc Fix" bill (293-132 in the House and 60-36 in the Senate). Despite a strong push by the industry, the Market Pricing Program (MPP) was not included in this major healthcare bill. According to Congressional health policy staff, this "Doc Fix" bill did not contain other legislation outside of the primary goal of delaying the 27.4% physician pay cut another 10 months.

Like many in the HME industry, Peter Falkson, CEO and co-founder of National Sleep Therapy was concerned and frustrated about the competitive bidding program. He wanted to take action and find a way to reach out to the public about a flawed program that they have no idea is coming. Little did he know that the answer would come from his 10-year-old daughter.

Dear Friends,
Last night I saw a link shared on Facebook from multiple friends about a new online petition against Medicare's flawed DME bidding program. Unlike other industry online petitions that I have seen in past years, I really believe this one has a chance to gain hundreds of thousands of signers, because it was not created by a single association, manufacturer or buying group.

As Round 2 Bid Registration ends today at 9:00 PM, the most common complaint is not the ability to register the Authorized Official, but the ability to register a Backup Authorized Official (BAO) or End User (EU).
Some AMEPA members have contacted the National Supplier Clearinghouse (NSC) several times trying to resolve Authorized Official issues to register a Backup Authorized Official. Some have not been able to register a BAO because they thought the intended registrant was listed on their 855-S form.

Two weeks ago Jeff Ross from Kettig Medical in Taylorsville, Kentucky did not think that he was in Round 2 of Medicare's bidding program, until he received a fax solicitation from a bid consultant that made him double check.
